Update:

Jason La Canfora is now reporting that the Buccaneers haven’t made an offer or entered into negotiations with Dirk Koetter, despite report that he has been telling coaches he’ll be the team’s next head coach.

  • According to La Canfora, Koetter is still a strong candidate.

Pro Football Talk reports that Buccaneers OC Dirk Koetter is telling assistant coaches in Tampa Bay that he will be the team’s next head coach.

  • PFT adds that Koetter is lining up his coaching staff as if he’ll get the job.
  • Luke Easterling reports that Koetter will be the Buccaneers’ next head coach.

Ever since the Buccaneers fired Lovie Smith, it was clear that the job was Koetter’s to lose.

Keeping Koetter with the team will allow Jameis Winston to have some continuity as he develops in the coming years.

Overall, the Buccaneers’ coaching search was actually somewhat limited, as they interviewed just Cardinals OC Harold Goodwin and Panthers DC Sean McDermott outside of Koetter, which was a pretty good indication that it would have been an upset for him not to get the job.

We’ll have more regarding the Buccaneers and Koetter as the news is available.
