Cardinals Starting Drew Stanton At QB In Week 16

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians announced Monday that they’re going to start Drew Stanton at quarterback for Week 16’s game against the Giants.

“It is no fault of Blaine,” Arians said, per Darren Urban.

This comes after Arians said Blaine Gabbert would remain the team’s starting quarterback. Arians explained that the decision to bench Gabbert came after watching the film from Sunday’s loss to the Redskins.

Stanton, 33, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2007. He’s currently in the final year of his two-year, $6.5 million contract that includes $4.5 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary fo $2.5 million for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Stanton has appeared in three games and thrown for 540 yards while completing 48.4 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
