Colts Unlikely To Re-Sign DE Dwight Freeney?

Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star writes that it’s hard to imagine a scenario where DE/OLB Dwight Freeney is back with the Colts in 2013.

Chappell cites the fact that Freeney is not a good fit in their 3-4 defensive scheme as the main reason why the Colts will likely move on without him this offseason.

Freeney, 33, tallied 5 sacks in 2012, but it hard to expect him to build upon that total in the coming years. He should be able to find interest from 4-3 teams in need of help at defensive end. The Seattle Seahawks have been tossed out as a speculative option for him, but there could be more options depending on Freeney’s asking price.

We have Freeney listed as the No. 49 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
