Colts Worked Out Former Second-Round Pick RB Mikel Leshoure

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the Indianapolis Colts brought in RB Mikel Leshoure for a workout on Tuesday.

However, the Colts only signed OT Andrew McDonald to a contract and placed TE Weslye Saunders on waivers, according to today’s transaction release.

Leshoure, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Detroit Lions back in 2011. He spent just three years with the team before he cut loose this past August as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Since being released, Leshoure has worked out for a number of teams including the Broncos, Saints and Bears, but has yet to receive another opportunity in the NFL.

Over the course of his career in the NFL, Leshoure has totaled 807 yards rushing on 217 carries (3.7 YPC) and contributed 214 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns.
