Eagles Really Considering Releasing DT Cullen Jenkins?
Last week, Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman wasn’t willing to commit to the idea of keeping DT Cullen Jenkins during his end-of-year press conference.
Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News writes that it would be mistake to get rid of player that did as much for their team as Jenkins did last season.
Jenkins, 31, will be entering the second year of his contract and has a roster bonus of $5 million which will cost the team $7.75 million in cap space for the 2012 season.
Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel first floated the idea that the Eagles could cut Jenkins because of the roster bonus and added that the Packers could have interest in re-signing him.
It would be surprising to see the Eagles sign Jenkins with the intentions of keeping for only one season but it’s certainly a possibility.
