FSU QB Jameis Winston Says He’s Looking Forward To Next Season & Playing Baseball

Following Florida State’s loss to the Oregon Ducks, QB Jameis Winston was asked his plans for the NFL draft.

Interestingly enough, Winston says he’s not focused on leaving college for the NFL, and is instead planning to play baseball next year.

I’m not focused on that at all. I’m looking forward to next season and playing baseball,” Winston said, per Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times.

Winston has had numerous off-the-field issues this year, but even with the obvious character concerns, many expect him to be a first-round pick in next year’s draft if he were to depart.

The deadline to declare for the 2015 draft is January 15, so he still has a few weeks to make up his mind. However, Michigan State QB Connor Cook announced that he will be returning to East Lansing next year, which means next year’s crop of quarterbacks could be very limited beyond Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

Winston finished the regular season throwing for 3,559 yards while completing 65.4 percent of his passes to go along with 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions over the course of 12 games. He also added three rushing touchdowns.
