Giants CB Walter Thurmond Out For The Season With Torn Pec

Pro Football Talk is reporting thatĀ Giants CB Walter Thurmond has a torn pectoral muscle that will require surgery and sequentially will put him out for the remainder of the 2013 season.

This is a tough break for the Giants andĀ Thurmond as they were both hoping for big things in his first year in New York.Ā Jayron Hosley is expected to be back from his suspension in the coming weeks, so there isĀ at least get someĀ help on the horizon.

Thurmond, 27, signed aĀ one-year contract worth $3 million which includedĀ $2 million guaranteed. He hasĀ $1.975 million base salary for the 2014 season.

He was obviously hoping to put together a strong season and cash in on the open market next year, but this injury will almost certainly have an impact on his next contract.

Thurmond finishes 2014 with four total tackles over the course of two games.
