Giants Sign CB Michael Hunter To Futures Contract

The New York Giants announced Thursday that they’ve signed CB Michael Hunter to a futures contract for the 2019 season.

As of now, the Giants have signed 12 players to futures deals including:

  1. LB Jonathan Anderson
  2. DE Jake Ceresna
  3. WR Brittan Golden
  4. DE Myles Humphrey
  5. RB Robert Martin
  6. LS Taybor Pepper
  7. OT Victor Salako
  8. OT Jylan Ware
  9. DB Ronald Zamort
  10. OL Chad Slade
  11. OLB Avery Moss

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Hunter, 25, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State back in 2016. He was on and off of their active roster last season and later returned to New York on a futures contract for the 2017 season.

Unfortunately, the Giants waived Hunter with an injury designation during the 2017 season and he was later waived with an injury settlement. Hunter had brief stints with the Jets, Broncos and Bills before signing on to the Texans’ practice squad last season.

In 2017, Hunter has appeared in four games but has yet to record a statistic.

  1. With the exception of Michael Thomas’ signing. Every Gettleman free agent signing in 2018 was a WASTE! Now they are resigning a player the team had 2-3 years ago, that didn’t workout the first go round is a sign of insanity!
Watch what transpires during the 2019 NFL Draft in a few months. Gettleman, Mara and Shurmur have been whimpering that the “offense is broken”. Yet! The GMEN 2019 draft picks will be mostly on DEFENSE. They will put Elisha out there in 2019, once again hoping for better results. And we all know what is going to happen. Another sign of insanity for Gettleman, Mara and Shurmur.
The GMEN first two picks in the upcoming draft should be offensive linemen PERIOD! The two picks should be between Jonah Williams, Jawan Taylor, Andre Dillard, Chris Lindstrom, any one of the Badgers oline draftees.
Yet! Gettleman will take DLmen Gary or Oliver at #6! And the GMEN Brass will then try and make the GMEN FANS believe that their picks are all part of the growing process. When in all actuality the only things growing are: the lists of lies that Gettleman, Mara and Shurmur keep feeding us FANS, Gettleman’s waist line and Mara’s receding hairline.
I mentioned this FACT once before in an article. Mara and Tisch need to sell the team to owners that actually care about the product being put out there on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, that the GMEN FANS can appreciate! 6 of the last 7 years have been losing seasons. And the 11-5 playoff appearance in 2016 resulted in a opening round loss. So it has in all actuality been 7 consecutive LOSING seasons in a row. It’s time for a change from the top on down.
