Giants Tried Out CB Bene Benwikere & S Dezman Southward

The New York Giants hosted free agent CB Bene Benwikere and S Dezman Southward for tryouts on Monday, according to Howard Balzer.

Benwikere, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s was in the third year of his four-year, $2.419 million contract when the Panthers cut him loose during the 2016 season.

Benewikere had brief stints with the Dolphins and Packers before he signed a futures contract with the Bengals last February. Cincinnati later traded him to the Cowboys for a conditional 2019 sixth-round pick.

The Cardinals signed Benewikere to a contract this past March, but was just recently waived a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Benwikere has appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals and recorded 51 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
