Giants WR Ben Edwards Suffered Torn ACL During Rookie Minicamp

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports that Giants WR Ben Edwards suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s rookie minicamp practice and will subsequently miss the entire 2016 season.

The Giants waived Edwards with the injury designation a few days ago. He has already cleared waivers and reverted to the team’s injury reserve list.

Edwards, 24, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Richmond back in May of last year. He was waived early on in the preseason, but was later signed to their practice squad towards the end of the season.

Edwards is in the second year of his three-year, $1.575 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $525,000 and $615,000 over the next two years.

In 2015, Edwards appeared in two games and recorded a single catch for nine yards receiving. He also contributed 20 kick return yards.
