“Handful Of Teams” In Talks With Saints About Possible Kenny Vaccaro Trade

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that there are a “handful of teams” engaged in talks with the Saints about a potential trade involving S Kenny Vaccaro. According to La Canfora, a Vaccaro trade is a possibility.

A few months back, Vaccaro said he was hoping to sign an extension with the team, but it appears as though the Saints may not be sold on him long term.

Vaccaro, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $9.425 million contract when the Saints elected to pick up his fifth-year option last year that will pay him $5.676 million for the 2017 season.

Vaccaro received a four-game suspension for violating the NFL drug policy last year.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Vaccaro would free up $5,676,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

This season, Vaccaro has appeared in one game and recorded six tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 69 safety out of 70 qualifying players.
