Jaguars Signing Veteran RB Jamaal Charles, Waive RB Brandon Wilds

Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars are signing veteran RB Jamaal Charles to a contract on Tuesday following a successful tryout.

  • Tom Pelissero reports that the Jaguars are waiving RB Brandon Wilds.
  • The Jaguars are also promoting TE David Grinnage to their active roster.

The Jaguars recently lost RB Corey Grant for the season and are without Leonard Fournette, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, so they clearly needed to bring some running back health for Week 6.

Charles figures to operate as T.J. Yeldon‘s backup this weekend.

Charles, 31, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2008. After nine years in Kansas City, the Chiefs released him last year and he later signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Broncos.

Charles has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Charles has appeared in 14 games for the Broncos and rushed for 296 yards on 69 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 129 yards receiving and one touchdown.
