Lions Sign Draft Picks CB Nevin Lawson & WR T.J. Jones

The Detroit Lions have signed rookies CB Nevin Lawson and WR T.J. Jones to four-year contracts.

  • The Lions now have five of their eight draft picks under contract.

Lawson was selected with the No. 133 overall pick of this year’s draft. He doesn’t offer exceptional size 5-foot-9 1/8, but he has plenty of speed and athleticism that should help him carve our a role on Detroit’s special teams unit in year one.

Over the course of his four-year college career, Lawson totaled 205 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, six interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Jones was the Lions sixth-round pick. At this year’s Scouting Combine, Jones ran a forty time of 4.48 to go along with a 33-inch vertical and 9-foot-11 broad jump. During his four years at Notre Dame, he caught 181 passes for 2,429 yards and 19 touchdowns.
