Market For TE Virgil Green Could Come Down To The Bears & Broncos

According to Jason La Canfora, the market for TE Virgil Green could come down to the Bears and the Broncos.

  • La Canfora adds that there are other teams as well.

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post reported a few days ago that Green was weighing a multi-year offer from the Broncos, but he has already found interest from 13 NFL teams.

Green characterized the negotiations with the Broncos as “encouraging” and said he loves playing for the Broncos.

The Broncos have talked to me. They didn’t tell me what my role would be but they made it clear how valuable I was to them. I love playing in Denver, and I love the fans. But I can’t make the decision just based on that,” Green said. “I appreciate the offer. But I don’t want to react too quickly until I know how other teams see me.”

Renck mentions that comparable tight ends make between around $2 million to $3 million per season.

Green, 26, is a really intriguing free agent as he could walk away with a much better contract than many would have assumed based on his name recognition.

In 2014, Green appeared in 13 games and caught six passes for 74 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Broncos. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 out of 67 qualifying players.

We have Green listed as the No. 48 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
