Matt Hasselbeck Open To Restructuring His Contract

Titans backup QB Matt Hasselbeck mentioned that he’s open to restructuring his contract if needed.

“I would definitely be up for that, for sure,” Hasselbeck said, per John Glennon of The Tennessean. “I’m not in those conversations, but I’m aware of them. That topic came up maybe in September, October, November (of 2012), somewhere in there.”

Hasselbeck, 37, has a $5.5 million base salary for the 2013 season and counts $7.5 million against the Titan’s salary cap.

That’s a sizable contract for a backup quarterback. Last year, Hasselbeck tallied 1,367 yards passing, seven touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games for Tennessee. Jake Locker didn’t exactly play as well as many believed he could have, so it makes sense for the Titans to have a decent backup option on their roster.
