- Albert Breer reports that Bears first-round QB Mitch Trubisky‘s rookie contract contains offset language similar to Titans QB Marcus Mariota.
- According to OverTheCap.com, Trubisky will receive a four-year contract worth $29,028,894 to go along with a signing bonus of $19,251,924. The contract includes a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020. (NFLTR)
Falcons HC Dan Quinn mentioned that he believes assistant HC Raheem Morris will be a head coach in the NFL again “sooner than later.”
“I do think so, and I hope that it’s sooner than later. He’s really equipped to do that. So when his chance comes, that’s what I hope his next step is.” Quinn said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan explained that working on the offensive side of the ball really helped to round out Morris’ skill set and should aid him as a head coach down the road.
“Raheem has always been a great defensive coach,” Shanahan told McClure. “And now, to have the experience on offense the past two years, puts him at the top of the tier. He has more energy than any coach I’ve ever been around, and he can connect with any type of player or coach. He’s more than ready to be a head coach again.”
“For me, my guy that I would start the season with is Sean Mannion,” Dickerson said Friday on “The Herd” via NFL.com. “I’ve been saying that since last year. Give him a shot. You drafted him. He was great at — where’d he go to school? — Oregon State, playing in a pro-style offense. He’s a big guy, got a great arm.”
“Look when you win, that [Fisher] situation would have never been there. I think you had a better chance of winning with Sean Mannion. I think even this year they start with Sean Mannion.”
