NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

Despite a poor performance from the team’s defense last night, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said he has “a ton of confidence” in DC Robert Saleh.

“Saleh is very good at what he does, and I have a ton of confidence in him and I have ton of confidence in our scheme,” Shanahan said, via NBC Bay Area. “They made the plays to win at the end that we didn’t.

  • Shanahan said that newly signed QB Tom Savage will serve as their third-string quarterback behind C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens. (Nick Wagoner)

Cardinals

  • Cardinals OC Mike McCoy was asked if he thought his job was in jeopardy if they don’t win Thursday: “We’re preparing like any other week. Our objective every week is to go out and win the next game that you’re playing. That’s our focus.” (Josh Weinfuss)
  • On Monday, Cardinals HC Steve Wilks said of McCoy’s job security: “I’d say all our jobs are in jeopardy if we don’t win.” (Josh Weinfuss)

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Tuesday that LB K.J. Wright (knee) will practice in Week 8, but he is considered unlikely to play against the Lions. (Brady Henderson)
  • Carroll was more optimistic about TE Ed Dickson’s (quad, NFI) chances of returning in Week 8.
