NFL Notes: Bills, Buccaneers & Ravens

Bills

  • Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News writes that Tyrod Taylor’s asking price is likely to only increase following the recent five-year, $122.97 million contract signed by Colts QB Andrew Luck.
  • That’s not to say Taylor will want a similar contract, but every contract pushing up compensation for quarterbacks should impact negotiations between the Bills and Taylor.

Buccaneers

Buccaneers GM Jason Licht offered some high praise for second-round K Roberto Aguayo.

“This is the best kicker I’ve ever seen in college, my favorite kicker,” Licht told the Tampa Bay Times. “I’m not going to risk (not) getting him and then have to go through a kicking carousel again during my tenure. I want to get the best kicker. Every position, I want to get the best.

Ravens

According to Don Markus of the Baltimore Sun, Ravens backup QB Ryan Mallett had some issues with decision-making and execution during offseason workouts.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh stressed the importance of these reps for Mallett with Joe Flacco out of the lineup, due to the ACL injury he’s coming off of.

He knows he’s the starting quarterback [until Flacco returns] and these reps are valuable, valuable reps for him and his goal is to make the most of them,” Harbaugh said.

Regarding Flacco’s progress, Harbaugh said he’s ahead of schedule.

“He’s ahead of schedule, just as he has been,” Harbaugh said. “The big thing is no setback. He’s been running…I didn’t know he was doing what he was doing. I didn’t see him run [before]. He was running more than I thought, so that’s good.”
