NFL Notes: Chargers, Dolphins, Patriots, & Rams

Chargers

Chargers HC Mike McCoy said he plans to “keep fighting my (rear end) off,” despite the talk that he could be on the hot season, via the Union-Tribune San Diego.

“Obviously, that was a bad day of Chargers football out there in all three phases,” McCoy said, Chargers.com. “(We) didn’t make any plays overall, but very poor….(It’s) very disappointing. We had an outstanding week of preparation. Watching the way we played there, you’d never think that. I think the mindset of the players coming off the bye was outstanding. They worked extremely hard and we had a good plan going in. It was obviously very poor in all phases today is all I can say about it to be honest with you. Very disappointing.”

Dolphins

  • Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald writes the Dolphins need to start looking for a head coach outside of the organization.
  • Salguero mentions that current Saints HC Sean Payton would be a “perfect fit” for the Dolphins, if he’s willing to leave New Orleans.
  • One interesting name that Salguero suggests is Colts HC Chuck Pagano, who is widely expected to be fired after the season barring a deep playoff run.

Patriots

Rams

Ian Rapoport reports that the NFL will look into the situation involving Rams QB Case Keenum, who clearly sustained a concussion during Sunday’s loss to the Ravens.

The game wasn’t stopped to check Keenum for a concussion, even though he had trouble getting to his feet. Instead, Keenum remained in the game and later fumbled the ball.

The broadcast showed Nick Foles going and grabbing his helmet, so at least some on the Rams’ sideline were aware that Keenum could be hurt.
