NFL Notes: Chris Cooley, Colts, & Vikings

Chris Cooley

Free agent TE Chris Cooley mentioned during an interview Monday that he may have to wait until a team suffers an injury before he’ll get an opportunity to catch on with another team.

“I’m not holding out hope,” said Cooley in an interview with ESPN 980, via ESPN.com. “I will absolutely continue to work out. And look towards realistically a later date in someone’s camp after an injury were to occur or even into the season, which I would be fine with. It would probably have to be a team that realistically has a chance of winning this year. Teams that don’t have a chance of winning don’t sign 33-year-old tight ends.

Colts

Colts owner Jim Irsay also denied a recent report that he has been pushing commissioner Roger Goodell to uphold Tom Brady‘s suspension.

“That’s not true at all,” Irsay said, via Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star. “I haven’t talked to Roger Goodell about DeflateGate since late January. Not true. That’s not the way things work involving someone else’s business and someone else’s team. It’s not something I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been around ownership [in the NFL] for half a century.

Vikings

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said of Adrian Peterson‘s workload in 2015: “He’ll get as much as he can take.

“As much as he can take, and as much as he can handle in all the things that we’re doing,” Zimmer told USA Today. “Obviously, we’re going to have to spell him at times like you do a lot of guys. But we get down on the goal line, and we’re probably not pulling him out, you know? He’s our best player, and we’re going to continue to use him.”
