NFL Notes: Greg Hardy, Browns, Rams, & Titans

Greg Hardy

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that Cowboys DE Greg Hardy continues to debate whether to sue the NFL or accept the four-game suspension he received following an arbitrator’s ruling.
  • For what it’s worth, Cole adds that a year of dealing with lawyers has been wearing on Hardy.

Browns

According to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, the recent departure of Browns director of player engagement Dr. Jamil Northcutt could be a sign of a rift between HC Mike Pettine and GM Ray Farmer.

Grossi mentions that Northcutt was an inordinately major “player” during the 2014 season for the Browns and a confidante of Farmer. However, Northcutt was reportedly also a “thorn in the side of Mike Pettine’s coaching staff.”

Sources have told Grossi that Northcutt was the recipient of Farmer’s in-game texting that led to him facing a four-game suspension. Although, a separate source tells Grossi that this is “absolutely false.

Grossi won’t go as far to say that the decision to part ways with Northcutt is a turning point in the relationship between Farmer and Pettine, but it’s also “not insignificant.”

Rams

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Rams are expected to place first-round RB Todd Gurley on the Non-Football Injury list at the start of training camp.
