The Patriots waived DE Corey Vereen with an injury designation and signed DB William Likely to a contract on Monday.
Should Vereen pass through waivers unclaimed on Tuesday, he would revert to the Patriots’ injured reserve list.
Vereen, 21, wound up signing on with the Patriots an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee a month ago.
During his college career at Tennessee, Vereen recorded 111 tackles, 26 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks, three fumble recoveries and five pass defenses over the course of four seasons and 42 games.
