ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Rams DE Chris Long is expected to be out 8-10 weeks following his ankle surgery.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher announced Wednesday that DE Chris Long will undergo surgery on his ankle injury, which will sideline him for at least “a few” games.

Long, 29, is entering the third year of his five-year, $60.31 million contract that included $36.76 million guaranteed. He just recently restructured his contract in a move to free up some extra cap space for St. Louis.

Long hand’t missed a single game over the course of his six-year NFL career before this, but the Rams do have some depth at defensive end.

Last season, he recorded 40 tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and scored a defensive touchdown.
