Ravens expected to let Ed Reed test the market next year

ESPN’s Chris Mortenson reports that the Baltimore Ravens are very likely to allow Star Free Safety Ed Reed to test Free Agency after the 2012-2013 season. Reed turns 34 in September, and has 1 year worth $7.4 million left on his contract.

Reed was contemplating holding out of training for a new contract, but decided that he would participate in all team activities, play out the season, and leave the contract negotiations for the next offseason.

Given Reed’s age, it is hard to believe that he would receive a long-term deal, although the talent is still there.
