Redskins “Seriously Considering” A Contract Extension For HC Mike Shanahan

Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins are “seriously considering” opening up negotiations with Mike Shanahan regarding a contract extension.

Shanahan is under contract through the 2014 season, but the team is reportedly weighing whether or not to address his future this offseason, or put it off until next year. Maske’s sources seem to think that a deal will not come until after they’ve finished the 2012 season.

Washington just won their first division title since 1999 and wasn’t as though anyone believed that they had a shot of doing so. The Redskins will take on the Seattle Seahawks this weekend for an opportunity to play in the division round of the playoffs.
