Report: Dolphins “Gauging” Trade Value Of DE Dion Jordan

Jason La Canfora, citing league sources, reports that the Miami Dolphins have been “gauging” the trade value of former first-round pick DE Dion Jordan.

  • Mike Garafolo was previously told that the Dolphins were shopping Jordan, as well as some other players around the league, but later told Jordan that the rumors were not true.

This report comes just a year after the Dolphins traded up to No. 3 overall for the right take him in the 2013 NFL Draft. Miami sent the Raiders their No. 12 and No. 42 overall picks for Jordan.

Of course, Jeff Ireland is no longer in place as their general manager, so the new regime could be looking to see what they can get for him now in the hope of using any acquired assets to address other areas of need.

This is just speculation on my part, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities.

Miami also has Cameron Wake, Olivier Vernon and Derrick Shelby at defensive end, so we’ll have to see if anything comes of this in the next few weeks.

There was a lot of talk that Jordan would be a great fit in Chip Kelly’s defense given that he coached Jordan for a few years at Oregon.

Jordan, 23, played just 339 snaps for the Dolphins last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He totaled 26 tackles and two sacks over the course of 16 games.
