Report: Jets & Darrelle Revis Have Discussed A Potential Return To New York

 

Update:

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have the Darrelle Revis camp have discussed the possibility of him returning to New York.

  • Mehta adds that it remains to be seen whether or not the talks will lead to anything.
  • Mehta mentions that the Patriots and Browns could be two other possibilities for Revis.
  • Brian Costello confirms that the Jets did, in fact, speak with Revis’ camp regarding a reunion.
    • Costello adds that the talks were initiated by Revis to gauge the Jets’ interest in the idea.

The could really use a solid cornerback now that they have parted ways with Antonio Cromartie and missed on Vontae Davis.

Revis is obviously a great fit in Rex Ryan’s defense and has said that he would welcome Revis back without issue.

Revis, 28, totaled 50 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and two forced fumbles over the the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Revis rated as the No. 1 cornerback in the league last season.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News spoke with a member of the Darrelle Revis‘ camp who mentioned that he’s confident Revis will sign with the Patriots.

Tom Curran reported earlier in the day that the Eagles are expected to be in the mix for Revis.

  • However, Reuben Frank of CSN Philly doesn’t see it happening.
  • Meanwhile, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer mentions that the Eagles’ defensive scheme doesn’t require a “shutdown” cornerback.
  • Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that the Giants, Falcons, Eagles and Patriots are among the “many” teams that inquired about Revis, so they could be teams to keep an eye on.

As things stand right now, the Patriots could be the team to watch in regards to Revis. There was a lot of buzz last night about Patriots being a team to watch regarding Revis now that they lost Aqib Talib to the Broncos.
