ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports recent echocardiogram tests revealed that Utah DT Star Lotulelei has a heart condition that will force him to miss his NFL Combine workout tomorrow.
Mortensen adds that Lotulelei’s left ventricle is operating at only 44 percent efficiency, which is considerably less that the normal range of 55-70 percent. Lotulelei is expected to return to Salt Lake City and undergo further testing.
Mike Garafolo reports that Lotulelei’s agent mentioned that he will see a heart specialist and is expected to do “everything at his pro day,” which is on on March 20.
This is obviously a very concerning issue for Lotulelei, who many had as a solid Top 10 player in this year’s draft class. We ‘re hoping the issue is treatable and he’s able to make a quick recovery, as he has a bright future ahead of him.
