Seahawks Releasing DT Tony McDaniel

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks are releasing veteran DT Tony McDaniel on Sunday.

This move is most likely stems from the Seahawks signing QB Russell Wilson and MLB Bobby Wagner to a long-term extensions in the past week.

McDaniel, 30, had one year remaining on his two-year, $5.75 million contract that included a $1.25 million signing bonus. He was set to make a base salary of $2.5 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McDaniel will free up $3 million in cap space while creating in $625,000 dead money.

In 2014, McDaniel appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and recorded 31 tackles, a pass defense and a safety.
