Seahawks & Russell Wilson In Contract Talks, But Haven’t Made Much Progress

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing multiple sources, reports that the Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson have begun the process of discussing a long-term contract that will keep him in Seattle for the foreseeable future.

• However, Florio adds that the two sides haven’t made much progress, if any.
• According to Florio, there is no immediate deadline for an agreement given that Wilson is under contract for the 2015 season.

Last we heard regarding Wilson and new a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Seattle and Wilson are looking to have a long-term contract in place before the start of training camp, but the contract won’t be fully guaranteed.

Wilson, 26, still has one year remaining on his four-year, $2.198 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $798,651 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Wilson threw for 3,475 yards while completing 63.1 percent of his passes for 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 849 yards and scored six rushing touchdowns over the course of 16 games.
