Seahawks Signing DT Shamar Stephen

Tom Pelissero reports that the Seahawks are signing former Vikings DT Shamar Stephen to a one-year contract on Saturday.

This is the second former Vikings’ defensive tackle that the Seahawks have signed in the past few days after they agreed to terms with Tom Johnson.

Stephen visited with the Lions and Seahawks, but it appears as though Seattle proved to be his best option.

Stephen, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,285,148 contract with the Minnesota Vikings and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Stephen appeared in 15 games for the Vikings and recorded 28 tackles and one sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
