ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on this morning’s SportsCenter that the New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees still haven’t made “any progress” in regards to a long-term extension.
“They have not talked much at all,” Schefter said.
Brees is undoubtedly the most important figure in the franchises history and they’ll need him more than ever now that Sean Payton will be out of NFL for the entire year. While Brees does have more leverage than the Saints, there’s a good chance that progress remains slow in the coming months, until they reach the July 16 deadline to sign franchise players. At that point, I’m sure something will get done.
