Titans CB Jason McCourty Could Miss Three Weeks Following Groin Surgery

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Titans CB Jason McCourty could miss the first three weeks of the season after he recently underwent groin surgery.

McCourty is the team’s No. 1 cornerback, so without him in the lineup, it would really test their on the back end of their defense.

It’s worth mentioning that HC Ken Whisenhunt said on Monday that McCourty has a chance to be back for Week 1, but that appeared to be an overly optimistic suggestion.

McCourty, 28, is entering the fourth year of his six-year, $44.26 million contract that includes $17 million guaranteed. He’ll made a base salary of $6.8 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, McCourty appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 85 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and 11 pass defenses.
