Titans Expected To Start Blaine Gabbert Against Colts

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Titans are expected to start Blaine Gabbert in Sunday night’s game against the Colts.

Last night, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Marcus Mariota (stinger, questionable) plans to warm up on Sunday with the intention of playing against the Colts, even though he won’t be 100 percent healthy.

However, a source tells Mortensen that the physical contact of a football game would subject Mariota to the risk of permanent damage.

Gabbert, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2010. After three years in Jacksonville, he was traded to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick back in March of 2014.

Gabbert played out the final year of his two-year, $4 million contract before eventually signing a one-year, $855,000 contract with the Cardinals last year.

The Titans and Gabbert agreed to a two-year contract worth $4 million.

In 2018, Gabbert has appeared in seven games for the Titans and completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 461 yards to go along with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
