Vikings HC Mike Zimmer announced Thursday that DT Sharrif Floyd recently underwent a cleanup procedure on his injured knee to clean up cartilage.

According to Zimmer, Floyd is out for Week 3’s game but his timetable is currently unknown.

Ben Goessling points out that this procedure was done to Floyd’s right knee. Last year, he had cartilage taken out of his left knee.

Floyd, 25, was taken with the No. 23 overall pick back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $7.671 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $941,300 in 2016 when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option back in May.

The option tender will run the Vikings $6.7 million in 2017, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

This season, Floyd has been active for one but has yet to record a single statistic.
