Vikings Unlikely To Get “Fair Value” In Return For Percy Harvin

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports writes that even though Percy Harvin is a legitimate difference maker, the Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to get “fair value” in return for him.

La Canfora mentions that talks between the Vikings and Harvin have gone “pretty much nowhere” and he would be surprised to see any “monumental breakthroughs” when they meet at next week’s Scouting Combine.

La Canfora adds that unless the Vikings are willing to offer Harvin a contract that includes $25 million guaranteed and close to $13 million annually, they’ll have to decide if it’s better to take what they can get in the trade market or wait for compensatory pick in 2015.

NFL teams are aware of the situation that the Vikings are in and both the character concerns as well as his previous injuries aren’t going to help them maximize their return for Harvin.

According to La Canfora, Minnesota is “not going to get a first-round pick for Harvin.”

Ian Rapoport adds that an NFL executive informed him that he would be “shocked” if the Vikings were able to get any thing more than a third-round pick for Harvin.

There’s been speculation that Harvin could be had for a second and fourth round pick, but no legitimate sources have confirmed that to this point. If Minnesota is indeed shopping Harvin, he’s without a doubt the best player available at this point and is still only 25 years old. This is definitely one of the more fascinating storylines of the offseason.
