Patriots Claim DB Troy Hill Off Waivers From Bengals, Cut TE Asante Cleveland

The New England Patriots officially claimed DB Troy Hill off of waivers from the Bengals on Friday and placed TE Asante Cleveland on waivers.

Hill, 24, signed on with the Bengals an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in May. He was unable to make the 53-man, but was later added to the team’s practice squad before being waived earlier this week.

This season, Hill has appeared in three games and recorded six tackles.

Cleveland, 23, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (FL) back in May of last year. He spent a good majority of last year on the team’s practice squad.

The Patriots traded for him in August, but he was unfortunatly unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. New England later added him to their practice squad before promoting him close to a month ago.

This season, Cleveland has appeared in four games and recorded a single reception for one yard receiving and no touchdowns for the Patriots.
