According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Lions CBย Darius Slay is hoping to sign a long-term extension that would keep him in Detroit this offseason.
With this in mind, Slay has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent to hopefully begin negotiating a new contract with the Lions.
Slay, 25, was taken in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. He will be entering the final year of his four-year, $5.289 million rookie contractย that included a $2.226 million signing bonus.
He made a base salary of $735,846 this season and is in line to make anotherย $976,269 in 2016.
In 2015, Slay appeared inย all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 59 tackles, two interceptions, and 13 pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 cornerbackย out of 118 qualifying players.
