NFL Notes: Bears, Dolphins, Giants, Jets, & Seahawks

Bears

• Ian Rapoport mentions that he’d be surprised to see veteran Bears TE Martellus Bennett back Chicago next year, given the emergence of Zach Miller and Bennett’s salary.

Dolphins

• According to Albert Breer, the Dolphins and DE Cameron Wake are hoping to have a resolution in replace regarding his contract at some point next week.
• Breer adds that this would give the Dolphins time to turn attention their to DE Olivier Vernon.

Giants

• Tom Pelissero reports that Giants LS Zak DeOssie‘s new contract includes $275,000 guaranteed and will pay him $1.1 million for the 2016 season.

Jets

• Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News writes that while the Jets view QB Bryce Petty as a 2-3 year developmental project, they wouldn’t hesitate to use him next season if he shows that he’s ahead of schedule in his growth.
• Even if they believe in Petty, Mehta doesn’t think the Jets should hesitate to take a quarterback with the No. 20 pick if they view him as a long-term option.
• According to Mehta, there are some Jets players who are skeptical that TE Jace Amaro will be an effective player in the NFL.
• Regarding free agent RB Chris Ivory, Mehta reports that the Jets have been in talks with his camp, but he’s still expected to test the free agent market.

Seahawks

• Seahawks free agent CB Jeremy Lane mentioned: “If the situation was right I would love to go back to the Seahawks.  They gave me my first crack in the NFL.” (Sirius XM NFL Radio)
