According toย Vaughn McClure of ESPN, the Bengals WRย Mohamed Sanuย and Sย Reggie Nelson are expected to be free agent targets for the Falcons.
McClure mentions that Atlanta will be looking for another receiver to play opposite to Julio Jones, and Sanu is in line to be one of the best available options in the coming weeks.
In the event the Falcons would prefer to spend money on a No. 2 receiver capable of handling kick returns, McClure mentions Browns free agentย Travis Benjamin as someone who could be a more appealing option.
McClure also reports that Nelson is on the Falcons’ list of strong safety targets. However, Nelson isn’t believed to be their top target at the position, but McClure expects him to be in the mix for them.
Sanu, 26, was taken in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.
In 2015, Sanu appeared in all 16 games and caught 33 passes for 394 yards receiving to go along with 71 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Nelson, 32, played out his contract and is now in position to test the open market in the coming weeks as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2015, Nelson appeared in all 16 games and recorded 77 tackles, eight interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 14 pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 safetyย out of 88 qualifying players.
