According to Field Yates, the 49ers placed WR Deebo Samuel on their injured reserve.
- 49ers also promoted C Hroniss Grasu and CB Dontae Johnson from their practice squad to the active roster.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.
Samuel sustained a broken foot back in June and was activated from their Non-football injury list last week. However, he’ll now miss at least the first three games.
Samuel, 24, was the No. 36 overall pick by the 49ers out of South Carolina in 2019. He’s entering the second year of a four-year, $7,697,356 rookie contract that includes a $3,618,076 signing bonus.
In 2019, Samuel appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and caught 57 passes for 802 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 14 rush attempts for 159 yards and another three touchdowns.
