49ers RB Raheem Mostert Believed To Have ‘Mild’ MCL Sprain

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the 49ers believe RB Raheem Mostert suffered a mild sprain of the MCL.

Mostert is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

An MCL sprain would be somewhat good news, as more players are able to return from this kind of injury during the season than other knee issues.

Mostert, 28, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in 2015. He had brief stints with the Dolphins, Ravens, Browns, Jets and Bears before signing on to the 49ers’ practice squad in 2016.

The 49ers brought Mostert back on a one-year exclusive rights contract in 2018 before tendering him a restricted offer in 2019. He later signed a three-year, $8.7 million extension with San Francisco.

However, the two parties agreed to a restructured contract this summer.

Entering today’s game, Mostert had appeared in one game for the 49ers this season and rushed for 56 yards on 15 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 95 yards receiving and a touchdown.
