49ers Signing WR Max McCaffrey Off Packers’ Practice Squad

Tom Pelissero reports that the 49ers are signing WR Max McCaffrey off of the Packers’ practice squad on Tuesday.

McCaffrey, 23, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in May of last year. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders before he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason last season.

The Packers later signed him to their practice squad toward the end of the season but he was among their final roster cuts last offseason. He signed on to the Saints practice squad soon after.

Jacksonville signed McCaffrey off the Saints’ practice squad a few months ago only to cut him loose soon after. McCaffrey returned to the Packers.

In 2017, McCaffrey has appeared in five games and caught one pass for four years and no touchdowns.
