Mike Garafolo of NFL Media doesn’t expect the 49ers to be able to trade veteran WR Pierre Garcon before the upcoming trade deadline, especially now that the Texans have acquired Demaryius Thomas from the Broncos.
There are other teams reportedly in the market for receiver help including the Patriots, Eagles and Titans, but it sounds like Garcon isn’t a serious consideration for any of them.
Garcon, 32, is a former sixth-round pick of the Colts back in 2008. He played four seasons for the Colts before joining the Redskins in 2012.
The 49ers signed Garcon to a five-year, $47.5 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed last year. He stands to make base salaries of $6.62 million and $5.6 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2018, Garcon has appeared in seven games for the 49ers and caught 21 passes for 230 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
We’ll have more regarding a trade involving Garcon as the news is available.
