Adrian Peterson Would Like To Play Four More Years

Cardinals’ veteran RB Adrian Petersonย told reporters on Saturday that he would like four more years in the NFL.

โ€œAt the end of the day, I know I can play. If you watch football, as far as being an evaluator of talent, if a guy has something left in the tank… he was able to see (I) can still play the game,” Peterson said, per Chris Tomasson. “I would want to play maybe four more years, four to five more years.โ€™โ€™

Earlier this week,ย Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports reported that the Cardinals will cut veteran Peterson this offseason given thatย David Johnsonย will back next year set to reclaim his role as a focal point of the team’s offense.

Peterson said that he has not heard from the Cardinals whether they’ll release him, but he is aware of the report.

“I haven’t heard anything from the horse’s mouth but I heard the report as well,” Peterson said, per Tomasson. “But it’s just a report for now If it’s (true) it was a great run for me & a great opportunity and it will be on to the next but hopefully that’s not the case.

Peterson, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. After 10 seasons in Minnesota, Peterson signed a two-year, $7 million contract with the Saints and stands to make base salaries of $1 million and $1.05 million over the next two years.

The Saints elected to trade Peterson to the Cardinalsย before this year’s deadline after things didn’t go as expected in New Orleans. The Saints will receiveย a 2018 sixth-round pick from the Cardinalsย for Peterson.

According toย OverTheCap.com,ย releasing Peterson willย free up $2,881,250 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Peterson appeared in 10 games for the Saints and Cardinals and rushed for 529 yards on 156 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 70 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Peterson as the news is available.
