AFC East Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Jets

Bills

Bills GM Brandon Beane says they’re in no rush to make a decision regarding DE Shaq Lawson‘s fifth-year option.

โ€œWeโ€™ve still got time. Right now, our focus is on the draft,โ€ Beane said during an interview with WGR 550. โ€œShaqโ€™s out training, and weโ€™ve checked in with him through a couple of people a couple of times just to see how heโ€™s doing, but I know heโ€™s looking forward to coming back. Weโ€™ll probably wait and approach that a little bit closer to the deadline.โ€

Dolphins

Jets

Pro Bowl returner WR Andre Roberts says he was surprised the Jets didn’t make a better effort to re-sign him before he left for the Bills.

โ€œI think that was the biggest thing first โ€” being able to play the Jets twice a year,โ€ Roberts said, via Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. โ€œComing from there, I know all about what theyโ€™re about. Being able to go against my old team is always going to be fun. โ€ฆ The way they kind of handled it was a little shady, but it is what it is. Iโ€™m a Buffalo Bill now, and Iโ€™m enjoying being here.โ€

  • According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the consensus around the NFL is the Jets will take Kentucky DE/OLB Josh Allen at No. 3 if they do end up playing a 3-4 defense in 2019.
