AFC East Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Jets

Bills

Bills GM Brandon Beane says they’re in no rush to make a decision regarding DE Shaq Lawson‘s fifth-year option.

“We’ve still got time. Right now, our focus is on the draft,” Beane said during an interview with WGR 550. “Shaq’s out training, and we’ve checked in with him through a couple of people a couple of times just to see how he’s doing, but I know he’s looking forward to coming back. We’ll probably wait and approach that a little bit closer to the deadline.

Dolphins

Jets

Pro Bowl returner WR Andre Roberts says he was surprised the Jets didn’t make a better effort to re-sign him before he left for the Bills.

“I think that was the biggest thing first — being able to play the Jets twice a year,” Roberts said, via Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. “Coming from there, I know all about what they’re about. Being able to go against my old team is always going to be fun. … The way they kind of handled it was a little shady, but it is what it is. I’m a Buffalo Bill now, and I’m enjoying being here.”

  • According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the consensus around the NFL is the Jets will take Kentucky DE/OLB Josh Allen at No. 3 if they do end up playing a 3-4 defense in 2019.
