Browns
Last year, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam called the acquisition of QB Deshaun Watson a “big swing-and-miss.” At the NFL owners’ meetings, Haslam said that Watson has a chance for a “fresh start” under new HC Todd Monken.
“Deshaun has a great chance, fresh start, offensive-minded coach, who has in his past been able to work with all kinds of different quarterbacks and make them successful,” Haslam said, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. “So, Deshaun has a great chance to do that now. We talked to him the other day, he said he weighs the [least] he has in several years. He’s in great shape, he’ll be [in Cleveland] on April 7 when we start [the offseason workout program]. Let’s see what Deshaun can do. We’re all excited.”
Watson returned to practice last season after being activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Haslam mentioned that the quarterback threw well in practice, but he must be able to perform in games.
“You got to do it in games, under pressure, et cetera, but he threw the ball well,” Haslam said.
Steelers
Former Michigan WR Roman Wilson has struggled during his time in Pittsburgh, beginning with an injury-prone rookie season and an inconsistent year this past season. New Steelers HC Mike McCarthy hopes to turn things around for the young receiver in a new offensive system.
“I really had a great conversation with him the other day, just looking forward to working with him,” McCarthy said, via Steelers Now. “New system, fresh start. I’m hoping he’s one of those guys that would benefit from it. I was impressed talking football with him. There’s a lot of people that have a lot of love for him in the building.”
Steelers
The future of Aaron Rodgers has been an ongoing topic as the offseason creeps toward the 2026 NFL Draft and OTAs. The Steelers’ recently hired HC Mike McCarthy, who has been in contact with Rodgers, said that the quarterback has been “really engaged” with his plans for Pittsburgh.
“Just like they always are, life, football, what’s going on at the facility,” McCarthy said, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “So he’s really engaged with what’s going on… I would just say he’s in a very positive space. We’ll just continue to engage in conversations.”
Owner Art Rooney II said Rodgers doesn’t intend on dragging things along lik he has in previous years.
“When I talked to him and [general manager] Omar [Khan] talked to him, he told us he wasn’t going to take as long this year as he did last year [to make a decision],” Rooney said. “I’m not 100% sure what that means, but I expect something before the draft.”
McCarthy mentioned that he’s spoken to GM Omar Khan about contingency plans if Rodgers decides to retire.
“I think like anything, people talk about having a plan,” McCarthy said. “I think you have to have a system of player acquisition. We do every position. So you got to be able to adjust. You got to be proactive with that thought process. … There really aren’t too many scenarios we haven’t talked about.”
