Chargers
- Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer mentions there was a rapport between the Chargers’ search committee, including Dean Spanos, A.G. Spanos, and John Spanos, and new HC Jim Harbaugh, which is relevant considering Harbaugh has been described as quirky and prickly and sometimes hasn’t meshed well with others.
- Aaron Wilson reports the Chargers’ offensive staff includes TE coach-run game coordinator Andy Bischoff and OL coach Mike Devlin.
- NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports the Chargers are expected to hire Michigan DL coach Mike Elston for the same role in Los Angeles.

Chiefs
- Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer says he hasn’t talked to anyone who thinks Chiefs HC Andy Reid will retire after this season, regardless of whether they win the Super Bowl or not. One person noted Reid is still the first person at the team building and the last one to leave every day.
- Breer added people who work with Reid haven’t been told anything definite, however, and there is an expectation from some people he will take some time after the season to let things cool off before making a final decision.
- CBS Sports analyst and former agent Joel Corry writes it’s possible the Chiefs could use the franchise tag on DT Chris Jones with the intention of trading him, as his trade value would likely be more than the potential 2025 compensatory pick they’d be slated to get for letting Jones walk. However, the tag would be more than $32 million.
- Corry expects Jones to ultimately sign a long-term deal worth more than $30 million per season, whether it’s with the Chiefs or another team.
- According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Chiefs LG Joe Thuney (pectoral) is at risk of missing the Super Bowl with his injury.
- The Athletic’s Nate Taylor said while appearing on The Athletic Football Show that Chiefs DL coach Joe Cullen is Michigan’s target for a new defensive coordinator: “Joe Cullen appears to be on the move. He appears to be the defensive coordinator [target], and Michigan will try to lock that down tonight,” via Clayton Sayfie.
Raiders
- Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer mentions the Raiders didn’t want to go to three years on the contract for prospective OC Kliff Kingsbury, which led to the deal falling apart.
- Raiders HC Antonio Pierce refused to answer questions about why Kingsbury elected against signing with them: “I don’t talk about guys that’s not Raiders,” via Paul Gutierrez.
- Pierce on new OC Luke Getsy: โHe whupped our ass when we played them (the Bears). Who was their QB? I donโt know. Who was their RB? I donโt know. But they still beat us pretty good.โ (Vic Tafur)
