AFC Notes: Bills, Jaguars, Patriots

Bills

Following Sundayโ€™s blowout loss to the Ravens, Bills HC Sean McDermott says itโ€™s too early to say whether Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman will start for them in Week 2.

โ€œI will look at everything. Itโ€™s too early to go one way or the other,โ€ McDermott said.

For the game, Peterman completed 5 of 18 pass attempts for 24 yards and two interceptions while Allen completed 6-of-15 passes for 74 yards.

Jaguars

  • Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette tells Josina Anderson following Sundayโ€™s game that he feels he can play in Week 2, despite the hamstring injury he sustained.
  • Fournette repeatedly said that he feels his hamstring is โ€œgoodโ€ and that he felt he couldโ€™ve come back in the game.
  • The decision to keep him out was because โ€œthey were being cautious.โ€

Patriots

Former Patriots P Corey Bojorquez, who was recently claimed off of waivers by the Bills, seemed to support the theory that New England didnโ€™t allow him to punt during the preseason and an attempt to get him through waivers and onto their practice squad.

โ€œThe Patriots told me they had a plan they were executing, and I said, โ€˜All right, Iโ€™m not going to be worried about it,โ€™ and just focused on my punting and tried to be the best I could every day so that when my name was called, Iโ€™d be ready,โ€ Bojorquez said, via The Athletic.

  • According to Mike Reiss, the Patriots agreed to pay OT Eric Smith $20,000 per week instead of the standard $7,600 per week to be on their practice squad.
